Carlos Arauz-Pacheco, MD, F.A.C.E.

Dr. Arauz-Pacheco is Board Certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and also in Internal Medicine; he is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinologists (F.A.C.E.). Dr. Arauz-Pacheco graduated from the University of Costa Rica School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Residency at the University of Costa Rica Hospitals and in 1989 was awarded a Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he completed his Endocrinology and Metabolism training. He was appointed full-time member of the Faculty at the same institution in 1994.  Since 1996, Dr. Arauz-Pacheco has been in private practice in the Dallas Metroplex. He is still active at UT Southwestern as a voluntary faculty. Dr. Arauz-Pacheco, or Dr. Carlos as many of his patients know him, has practiced in the Dallas area for over 16 years. He has served in several teaching and research positions as well as consultant and medical director of Diabetes Centers in Texas and Oklahoma. He has written over 30 medical articles, in national and international journals, and scientific books. In 2002, at the request of the American Diabetes Association, he authored the Technical Review on the treament of high blood pressure in diabetic patients, this review was the basis for the National Guidelines of the American Diabetes Association. His main areas of interest include Intensive Diabetes Management, Insulin pumps, Thyroid disorders, Osteoporosis, and Hormonal disorders in men and women.

Dr. Carlos Arauz-Pacheco, F.A.C.E.

El Dr. Arauz-Pacheco es especialista certificado en Endorcinología y Metabolismo y en Medicina Interna. Es Miembro con Distinción (Fellow) del Colegio Americano de Endocrinólogos. Graduado como Médico y Cirujano de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Costa Rica, realizó su Internado y Residencia en los hospitales de esa Universidad. El Dr. Arauz-Pacheco completo su residencia de post-grado en el Centro Medico de la Universidad de Texas en Dallas. En 1994 fue nombrado miembro a tiempo completo del cuerpo de profesores de la Universidad de Texas. Desde 1996, el Dr. Arauz-Pacheco ejerce su especialidad privadamente en el área metropolitana de Dallas. Actualmente participa como profesor voluntario de la Universidad de Texas. En el ámbito académico, el Dr. Arauz-Pacheco ha escrito mas de 30 artículos científicos en publicaciones nacionales e internacionales. En 2002, a petición de la Asociación Americana de Diabetes, escribió las bases para las recomendaciones nacionales del tratamiento de la presión alta en pacientes diabéticos. En el aspecto profesional, ha sido director médico y consultor de Centros de Diabetes en Texas y Oklahoma. Sus áreas de mayor interés son el manejo de la diabetes, enfermedades de la glándula tiroides, Osteoporosis y problemas hormonales y metabólicos en hombres y mujeres.
